Customer Reviews

Not perfect, but beats the stinky pail any day 4
Unlike some folks reviewing “green products” – I’m not going to go on about how I’m saving the earth. While a great side benefit – it’s not my main objective. I’m more concerned with my son’s room NOT smelling like an open sewer. I gave them 4 stars because they achieve my goal – reduce the smell – but they’re not the perfect solution. While it may sound like I’m griping – I’m not – I just want folks considering this solution to have ALL the facts – and not just glossed over reviews espousing the benefits to Mother Earth.

PROS:
- I can walk into my son’s room without gagging at the smell
- My garbage can doesn’t fill up as fast (nor does it smell as bad)
- The diaper covers are cute

IN THE INTEREST OF FULL DISCLOSURE…
- The refills are about 2x more expensive than disposable diapers
- The amount of contact required to flush the inserts – I don’t care what anyone says, it’s not “easy”. You have to peel down both sides (usually holding the end that is not soaked with #1 or #2) then try to get the middle part to drop in the toilet. With simple #1 diapers, this is bearable but not easy b/c the soaked part tends to not want to fall out as easily; when you add in #2… not so fun. The instructions direct you to get the entire middle part out first, then break it up, then toss in the top. While this is nice in theory – doesn’t always work as easily in practice.
- If your toilets are “Green” and you reduce the water usage – you may need to change this. One bathroom is pretty much for the kid so the only toilet use is his diapers – I’ve had to adjust the toilet so we get a nice full bowl of water to allow the diapers to break up and minimize risk of a clog in my ~100 year old pipes.
- They include a plastic stick to break up the inner diaper – which is fine but who wants this hanging around the bathroom? It’s not terribly sanitary, and it’s one more thing for my kid to try & grab. I rinse it when the toilet is flushing and hang it as high as I can- and it’s in a bathroom not frequented by guests.
- I do not travel with these diapers. I’m not going to risk someone else’s plumbing, nor am I going to cart around the break up stick. My kid wears disposable diapers when we travel, and for that matter, when I know someone else is going to be watching him, I put him in disposables. I don’t mind enduring this much contact with his diaper parts, but I’m not going to ask someone else to.
- Leaking. Nothing has made it out of the diaper (yet), in part because I’m paranoid and change him more frequently; however, I’ve not had a clean poopy diaper yet. Every time some poo gets on the plastic snap out liner which I toss in the sink with some hot water and soap. It’s really not ideal – do you want baby poop remnants in your sink? Do you want to clean it every day? Spray it down with bleach? Again, I do it, but it’s all to avoid the stench.
- Wipes: They’re still an issue. Stinky wipes alone have not yet made the pail unbearable. Maybe I should just find flushable wipes.
- Night time: We stick with disposable. My son will sleep a good 12 hour stretch and that diaper is loaded when he wakes up. No way I’m going to put him in a g-diaper through the night.
- The Velcro straps – work great so far… one time my son realized he could pull on it and… well it was only once. Also, they’re SO strong that if it’s not a perfect seal and your holding baby, the Velcro can rub against your arm/wrists (I had scratches on my arm and it took me a while to figure out what had caused it – some exposed Velcro on the gdiaper.

Good luck!

Love them! 5
I have been using these for about a year since my little girl was one and have loved them ever since. I can’t flush the liners because of our plumbing issues, but feel good about throwing them away. I love the covers!! She cannot take them off since it closes in the back. Love everything about it and the fact that they are better for the earth! I wish that they would have these when my first was born. Give them a try!!

g’s are wonderful no diaper rash!! not that much more$$ 5
We use gDiapers, we love them! We have never had diaper rash, except the few times we have run out of inserts and have resorted to disposables–in one night we had a rash beginning with ’sposies! There is a learning curve to avoid leaks, but leaks and blow outs happen in disposables as well! Cutest diaper I have ever seen! Some cloth diapers are cute too, but these are my favorite!
In regards to the previous reviewer’s comments on price, while they are more expensive than other disposables it’s not that much. I did the math, according to Amazon’s prices at the time of writing this, g’s (med/lg) cost 36c per insert (if you ’subscribe and save’, case of 128), Seventh Generation’s are 35c per diaper(case of 120 stage 3), pampers cruisers are 25c per diaper (case of 160 size 3). SO…if you are using seventh gen, i guess the price really isn’t an issue anymore now that Amazon has g’s with subscribe and save savings!
At 10cents per diaper at the *average* 6 diaper changes per day for 30 days, that is only $18 a month…i will skip out on ordering pizza Once a Month in order to pay for our g’s and feel good knowing Poop from our daughter is not heading into the landfill to pollute the groundwater. Icky! And come to think of it, I would probably be paying a good deal of that extra cash to treat her diaper rash every day if we were in disposables… guess I’ll order that pizza anyway!
Way cuter than sposies and not that much more $ day to day!

5 star product but just unaffordable for most 3
i loved the idea of these. i used them for awhile they work great. It take a bit of time to figure out how to put in the insert right. it looks simple, in the begining not so. but you do figure out after awhile how to push it in there so it doesn’t leak. Once i figured it out no problem. but really one question. why are these inserts so expensive? i use seventh generation now because i will spend alittle more for an earth friendly product but really i’m not going to spend that much. really i have a life, these must be the most expensive diapers on the market and it’s not even a whole diaper. it’s just an insert. i had no problem spending the money on the covers. i wish another company would make these inserts cheaper then i would defintly be a buyer. i love the covers they are constructed really well, very cute. i think this is the best idea i would use these anyday over disposables. but i am not spending that much money on these inserts.

Great price, Great product.

The swaddlers are a comfortable fit for a baby up to 15 pounds. The price per diaper is comparable and even better than you most stores.
With free S & H and to the door service, it saved me gas money and time.

Awesome diapers in a hard to find size!

My son spends the majority of time in between sizes. These are the same diapers you already love but in a size just bigger than 1s! I don’t know what we’d do without these since 1s are much too small and 2s are HUGE!

These are the perfect baby wipe!

I love these baby wipes. They’re strong, they stay moist, and they don’t leave residue or a scent on the baby. My daughter doesn’t get diaper rash from them either. Because they contain aloe, they’re good for my hands, too, which helps because new moms are constantly washing their hands. I haven’t found any place other than Amazon where they’re cheaper – Amazon is the place to buy them. I’ve also purchased a case of the travel size wipes for the diaper bag – they’re perfect. I was actually given a case of huggies wipes at my baby shower and haven’t used them because I like the Seventh Generation ones better. What could be better than a product that really works well and is better for the planet than the other choices out there? I won’t change brands after finding these!

best wipes on the market–or not?

all other wipes contain irritants and/or fragrances. and they fall apart. we use these wipes “as is” on the road but at home, we rinse them out with warm water and spray california baby diaper wash on each cloth for the ultimate diaper change. (tushies disintegrated when rinsed) we have not had one bit of diaper rash in six months. i wish 7th gen would make these clothes available dry. cal baby removes all biological staining and leaves a “calming” lavender/ clary sage scent opposed to the stronger scent of the 7th gen wipe. thankfully it washes out quickly unlike other wipes that retain their chemical stink and slimy residue even after rinsing them out. and 7th gen are the only wipes that are non-chlorine whitened. best on the market!
Update since baby #2: the wipes no longer contain a strong odor. I have discovered they turn my fingernails yellow though. leave a wipe in the air to dry and you’ll see the discoloration. Still, they are the only wipes we use and we use ALOT from diaper changes, to wiping down highchairs, toys, car interior, etc… anything that might yellow we skip–like piano keys!
UPDATE: I found black mold growing in the bottom of a bag. Called the company and they said, “sometimes our formula is off.” Since then I’ve found several “fragrance free” or “organic cloth” wipes on the market. I am open to trying them now.
In addition to finding the mold, we also started using the wipes “as is” instead of washing them out before each use. Both babies developed an intense diaper rash that looked like chemical burns requiring prescription creams. If I could change my star to a 1, I would. The quality of the cloth is superior but they do not come apart so you are waving a container trying to get the wipes unattached.

Great company, but stage 6 dipes are no good!

Unfortunately, I have to give these only two stars. It would be one, but the fact that Seventh Generation is a great company overall earns them one bonus star.

I wrote a glowing review for the Stage 1 diapers (check it out and vote it helpful if you like it!). I also found stages 2-4 to be quite good.

But around Stage 5, leakage started becoming a big problem. The bigger the baby got, and the more he started to pee, the more these dipes started leaking! :-(

We’re potty training our 28-month old now, so he generally doesn’t wear diapers during the day, but he does at night. He cannot wear these overnight, or he will wake up soaked and uncomfortable in the morning. In contrast, he is always dry and comfortable with equivalent Pampers diapers. So that’s why the two stars; there are brands out there that keep the baby dry all night, and 7th Generation stage 6 simply doesn’t.

I think if your child is still wearing diapers all day, and you change them frequently, these could be a good buy. But I would strongly recommend against trying to use these overnight.

Do buy other 7th Generation products though! The paper towels, tissues, dish soap, laundry soap, and napkins are all great!

Great diapers for babies w/sensitive skin

We have been using Seventh Generation Diapers (started w/ size 4, and now in size 5) since my daughter was 16 mos old (she’s now 27 mos old), and these have been the best diapers for her sensitive, and diaper rash prone skin. I love the feel of these diapers and they hold a lot. We switched from Pampers Cruisers to these diapers and have never looked back.

I am not happy about the new reformulated diapers, and that they made the package have 8 less diapers, and the gel material seems to be a little more slippery than it was before. Since we hopefully have less than six mos. left of diapers I don’t plan on going diaper hunting again, but messing with something that isn’t necessarily broken really irritates me.

Excellent diapers

Seventh generation diapers are wonderful diapers. I recently started using them on my 5 month old due to concerns about all the extra chemicals/toxins in standard diapers. He was also ‘blowing out’ of the standard Pampers. SG diapers are higher on the back end so they contain more. They are also super absorbant and my little guy has not had any diaper rashes since we started using them. I would say that the higher price is worth it. Amazon has the best deals b/c you can get 4 packs delivered right to your door w/out any shippping/handling.
